The AVO420WRX is AVO's latest ball-bearing, bolt-on turbocharger solution for the all new 08 Subaru Impreza WRX. It was designed specifically to be true OEM quality bolt-on solutions for the Impreza with proper oil and water cooling lines. What’s more, not only does the ball-bearing design enhance response and spool times, it is more reliable than the journal-bearing design used by the OEM turbocharger. Thanks to single-cartridge, dual ball-bearing technology, our turbochargers generate far less frictional drag and are 10 times more durable than traditional journal-bearing turbochargers. Our ball-bearing turbochargers ship with all the necessary parts for a true bolt-on and go experience. Also included in this package is an AVO 15psi adjustable solid boost actuator. Higher rated solid boost actuators are also available. When we say bolt-on, we mean it!The 420 designation refers to the performance level of this turbocharger. On a 2.5-liter turbocharged WRX, it will provide over 330 wheel hp with proper supporting modifications and ECU tuning.Used in conjunction with a good aftermarket top-mount intercooler such as the AVO TMIC for the 08 WRX, 300-330 wheel horsepower is fairly easy to achieve, about 360-402 hp at the crank. Together with a good ECU tune, you can reach these goals with a simple upgrade to the fuel pump, exhaust, and intake. And you can go much further than this with this turbo with the right upgrades, such as fuel injectors and a front mount intercooler. Our turbochargers were designed by one of the best turbo engineers on the planet, Terry Wilson, and are made to extra tight tolerances for the maximum in reliability and durability. Much of our testing is not only on a workbench, but in the harshest of real-world conditions, the deserts of Dubai. When you buy an AVO ball-bearing turbocharger, you are buying into technology that works. If you look at the torque numbers, you can tell that this turbo has much more in it. We will scan in and post the boost graph later, but it hits 18psi by 3700rpm and then peaks at 20psi at 3900 - and holds an absolutely flat 20psi to 6500rpm and beyond. TODA 2.2 TURBO STROKER KIT
GReddy's S2000 turbo kit is based off of a Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) manufactured TD05H-18G turbocharger, the compact T518Z. A couple of turbine housings are offered for this turbo, 8cm2 and 10cm2. The 2.0L, F20C and 2.2L, F22C both benefit from the 10cm2 exhaust housing's larger scroll area and inlet. The larger housing makes for a negligible amount of low-end lag but makes up for it in its ability to ultimately outflow the smaller housing, something you'll appreciate once the boost is turned well past 10 psi and backpressure becomes more of an issue. Boost is controlled by a 7psi internal wastegate. This speeds up installation time and allows everything to fit within the confines of the engine bay; the longitudinally mounted F-series affords little room on the exhaust side. Like all MHI turbochargers, the GReddy-spec T518Z has one of the most durable center cartridges available, featuring a large-diameter center shaft and free-floating bushings. Such bearing designs have been shown to outlast even some of the lower end ball bearing housings not to mention most other journal bearing cartridges. The compressor wheel measures in with a 50.5mm inducer and 68mm exducer, translating into a 55.1 trim piece. The turbine's 76.87 trim comes from a 56mm inducer and 49.1mm exducer. This means that the T518Z is good for roughly 420 hp when matched with either of the F engines. Of course, upgraded internals and proper tuning will be necessary at that point.
