KNOCKLINK SPECIAL OFFER

Is your engine self destructing ?Something we recommend to anyone with a modified turbo-charged car is a relatively simple little device known as a Knocklink. The Knocklink is a little black box with a series of LEDs that light up indicating the occurrence and severity of ‘knock’ in your engine. But what is ‘knock’?Knock, otherwise known as detonation, pre-ignition, pinging and even pinking (in the UK) is the spontaneous combustion of the air/fuel mixture BEFORE the spark fires. This uncontrolled and unwanted explosion can be extremely destructive. The high temperatures, load and pressure spikes associated with ‘knock’ can be nine or ten times greater than the force resulting from controlled combustion. No combination of forged pistons, billet rods, strengthened cranks will withstand detonation over a period of time, think for a minute how many potential knocks can occur as you push your engine to redline. But why do I need one?The first thing the Knocklink will alert you to is the state of your tune. If the Knocklink is not lighting up at full throttle through the rev range in all gears then all is good.BUT, what about bad fuel, clogged or faulty injectors, boost spikes, fuel supply, heat soak and the many other reasons that knock can occur. The Knocklink will act as an early warning system alerting you to the fact that you have a problem and potentially save an expensive engine rebuild. And with bad fuel being our biggest problem these days the Knocklink is cheap insurance.Okay, so exactly how does it work?A separate knock sensor is fitted to the engine adjacent to the factory knock sensor, this is then wired to the Knocklink box which is connected to power. The Knocklink’s sensitivity is then adjusted to suit the engine so that the difference between ‘normal’ engine noise and ‘knock’ can be determined.
